5/60th Royal American Rifles

 

5 batalion 60 pułku Królewskich Amerykanów jako pierwszy w armii brytyjskiej został wyposażony w całości w sztucery gwintowane Bakera oraz wyekwipowany w zielone kurtki. Z oddziałów "zielonych kurtek" powszechnie maluje się modele w barwach 95 pułku, gdyż po pierwsze był on pod Waterloo (a 5/60th nie), a po drugie został spopularyzowany przez serial z Sharpem. Taki to wpływ popkultury.
Ja wybrałem 5/60th. Batalion ten dzielnie walczył w kampanii półwyspowej, często poszczególne jego kompanie przydzielano doraźnie i osobno do większych jednostek. Zasłużył na szacunek samego Wellingtona. 

The 5th Battalion of the 60th Regiment of Royal Americans was the first in the British Army to be fully equipped with Baker's rifles and equipped with green jackets. The "green jackets" units are commonly painted in the colors of the 95th regiment, because firstly it was at Waterloo (5/60th didn't), and secondly, it was popularized by the Sharpe's series. Such is the influence of pop culture.
I chose 5/60th. This battalion fought bravely in the peninsular campaign, often its individual companies were assigned temporarily and separately to larger units. He deserved the respect of Wellington himself.

Wykorzystałem figurki Warlorda i Perrych, także plastikowe. Warlordowe nie posiadają plecaków, więc musiałem dodać. Dorobiłem także kordony i parę beretów.

I used figures of Warlord and Perry, also plastic. Warlord models haven't backpacks so I had to add them. I also made cordons and some of bonnets.

Portugalczycy / Portuguese soldiers

Jednym z wojsk koalicji antynapoleońskiej na Półwyspie Iberyjskim była armia Portugalii. Więcej o jednostkach portugalskich tutaj. Dokonałem eksperymentu - zacząłem malować dwa oddziały piechoty naraz. Eksperyment w zasadzie się powiódł; raczej nie będę go powtarzał.

Piechota pochodzi z zestawów Warlordowskich. Wzbogaciłem szeregi nabytymi szczęśliwie nieprodukowanymi już przez Victrixa metalowymi modelami żołnierzy funkcyjnych: oficerów, chorążego, dobosza, flecistę, saperów. Są jeszcze tacy do dostania za pośrednictwem chyba Brigade Games. Niestety, były to modele przedstawiające wojaków z późniejszego okresu wojny, zatem musiałem zmienić im nakrycia głów. Uciąłem je, najczęściej wraz z głowami. I wymieniłem na poprawne posiadające barentiny.

One of the troops of the anti-Napoleonic coalition on the Iberian Peninsula was the Portuguese army. More about Portuguese units here. I did an experiment - I started painting two infantry units at once. The experiment basically succeeded; rather, I will not repeat it.
Infantry comes from Warlord sets. I enriched the ranks with metal models of soldiers that were not produced by Victrix any more: officers, ensign, drummer, fifer, sapeurs. They are still available from probably Brigade Games. Unfortunately, these were models of later war soldiers, so I had to change their headgear. I cut them off, usually with their heads. And I replaced it with the correct one with barentins.

The first unit is the 15th Battalion '2 Olivenza'.

Drugim jest 23 batalion '2 Almeida'. Tu akurat stoi pierwszy w kolejności.

Zwerbowałem też oddział strzelców - powstał po zmieszaniu figurek Victrixa (wymienione głowy) i Front Ranka. Jest to 4 batalion Cacadores 'Estramadura'.

I also recruited a rifle squad - it was created after mixing the figures of Victrix (replaced heads) and Front Rank. It is the 4th Battalion of Cacadores 'Estramadura'.

Oddział jazdy powstał z modeli Perrych. Jest to 8 pułk 'Elvas'. Ledewerki wykonałem w barwie naturalnej skóry. W dragonach portugalskich występował też biały kolor tego elementu, jak wykonano go tutaj.

The cavalry unit was created from Perry's models. This is the 8th 'Elvas' Regiment. I made leatherworks in the color of natural leather. In Portuguese dragoons there was also a white color for this element as it was made here.

Zebrało się trochę wojska, braki artyleryjskie uzupełnię później. Tymczasem wykonałem dowódcę brygady portugalskiej. Jest to oczywiście Brytyjczyk, choć z przybocznym adiutantem, oficerem portugalskim.

Some troops have gathered, I will fill in the artillery shortages later. Meanwhile, I have made the commander of the Portuguese brigade. He is, of course, British, though with an aide de camp, a Portuguese officer.

Żołnierz w płaszczu nie prezentuje się okazale. Tym bardziej boli mnie fakt, że gwardia francuska wystąpiła pod Waterloo w płaszczach. W związku z popularnością tej bitwy, gwardia masowo jest przedstawiana właśnie w taki sposób. Sposób zakrywający piękno munduru wielkiego.
Ale zwykły piechur liniowy może być z powodzeniem przedstawiany w płaszczu. Przede wszystkim dla odmiany. Albowiem płaszcz oczywiście łatwiej się maluje niż rabaty, kołnierze, mankiety, kamizelki.. ale czy o łatwość w malowaniu figurek epoki napoleońskiej chodzi?
A soldier in a geatcoat does not look impressive. It hurts me the more that the French Guard appeared in Waterloo in geatcoats. Due to the popularity of this battle, the Guard is usually represented in this way. A way of covering the beauty of a full uniform.
But an ordinary infantryman can be successfully portrayed in a coat. First of all, for a variety. Of course, the coat is easier to paint than facings, collars, cuffs, vests ... but in painting figurines of the Napoleonic era is it about ease?

Wśród modeli Perrych występują dwa rodzaje: w płaszczach jednorzędowych i dwurzędowych, wyodrębniłem tę różnicę malując różnymi odcieniami.
